One big thing with patients with Alzheimer's-Dementia is wanting to relive their experiences that they have gone through in life. It is helpful to make a shadowbox or memory-box for someone's keepsakes.
Patients that have Alzheimer's-Dementia will sometimes suffer with feeling anxious or overwhelmed and not sure what to do. Fidget toys & blankets are a great way to reduce: stress, anxiety or frustrations.
Most people know about bingo and it's a popular pastime for many seniors/older generations. However, they have specialized versions of bingo -via Amazon and other sites- where it's words & images of common things.
One stress reducing activity that is also fun and artistic is that of: painting. Painting for patients with ALZ-D can be very soothing and also help them to express themselves and unlock their inner creativity! We also suggest using washable paint, an apron, paper plates and probably the most important part: put on some easy listening music or their favorite jams!
One thing that is helpful and good for people living with: ALZ-D is to have them work on activity books. We have found children's activity books are super easy to use and also cheap -try to look at your local dollar store- and are filled with a variety of: puzzles, crossword games, fill-in-the-blanks, matching and spot the difference puzzles.
Depending on what stage a person is in with their: Alzheimer's-Dementia diagnosis, it can be difficult to still remain active and exercise. However these physical activities can help: taking a walk, gardening, tai-chi and even just blowing up a balloon and playing catch/volleyball with it. This is great for hand-eye-coordination.
